Since the fall of the Awami League government on August 5, propaganda has been spreading on social media, especially in Indian media, in the context of the anti-discrimination student movement. Among this, there have been reports claiming that Dhallywood actor Chanchal Chowdhury was under house arrest. However, Chanchal Chowdhury himself has clearly responded to such claims in the media.

The popular actor from both Bengals, Chanchal Chowdhury, has been working more cautiously since the fall of the Awami League government. His work schedule has eased a bit, and he had been away from shooting for a long time. Recently, he has returned to shooting and has been busy with outdoor shoots for the past three days. In an interview with Anandabazar Online, he spoke about various contemporary topics and his upcoming work for the Eid.
Chanchal Chowdhury said, “The entertainment industry in Bangladesh is currently facing a slump, so the amount of work has decreased. At one time, I did a lot of work, but now I only want to do special projects. I am more interested in doing quality work, work that will be remembered for a long time, rather than increasing the quantity of work.”
Chanchal Chowdhury is currently working on a seven-episode series written by Brindaban Das and directed by Sokal Ahmed. The story of the series revolves around the tragic fate of a rickshaw puller’s love. Chanchal was supposed to act alongside his dear friend and frequent co-actor in films and dramas, Shahnoor Khushi. However, she was recently severely injured in an accident.

Chanchal Chowdhury shared, “Shahnoor Khushi was supposed to act in this drama. But just a day before the shooting began, she had an accident, and she got 10 stitches on her forehead. Her eyes and face are still swollen. I visited her the day before yesterday. Currently, I’ve been shooting outdoors for the past three days. I hope to visit her again on Saturday.” The sudden accident of actress Shahnoor Khushi has deeply saddened Chanchal.
By the way, Chanchal Chowdhury’s most recent film is likely the “Poddatik” directed by Srijit Mukherjee, a Tollywood production. Additionally, the film “Breathe,” directed by Redwan Roni, is awaiting release, a joint production between India and Bangladesh.
In the Chorki Original series “Feu,” released on January 30, Chanchal Chowdhury plays the character of Sunil. In the series, he portrays a photographer. “Feu” has elements of history and context, much of which Sunil captures through his camera.
Sharing his shooting experience, Chanchal Chowdhury said, “It was very cold during the shoot. We shot in the Sundarbans for almost a month. We used to sleep on a launch at night and had to wear winter clothes to protect ourselves from the cold. But even more than the cold, we were afraid of crocodiles. There were crocodiles near the place where our launch was docked. In the morning, we could see crocodiles and various animals through the window.” To reach the shooting spot from the launch, we had to ride in small boats. We also had to shoot at night, which made the situation even more challenging.
