Is Chanchal Chowdhury Under House Arrest?

About 17 days ago, Chowdhury boarded a flight intending to travel from Dhaka to New York via Dubai. Before the flight took off, several BNP leaders and members of the Bangladeshi military reportedly boarded the plane and questioned him about whether he was fleeing the country. Chowdhury clarified that he was traveling to New York for work, but it is unclear whether his response was accepted.

Following this incident, he was allegedly removed from the flight and detained. Reports suggest that he is currently under house arrest, but doubts about the truth of these claims persist. Chowdhury himself told TV9 Bangla that the rumors are completely false and that he is safe.

The unrest in Bangladesh began after Sheikh Hasina’s government fell, and an interim government reportedly formed under the leadership of Muhammad Yunus.

Actor Chanchal Chowdhury also took to social media during this time, clarifying that he had not made any statements regarding the current situation in any newspaper or social media platform.

He said, “I am just an ordinary artist. I have no involvement beyond my professional work.”

A few months ago, former Bangladeshi Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina reportedly left the country and moved to India. Since the fall of her government, unrest has persisted in Bangladesh.

Although Nobel laureate Muhammad Yunus leads the interim government, reports suggest an increase in oppression against minorities. The arrest and rejection of bail for Chinmoy Krishna Das have further escalated tensions. These developments are contributing to a deterioration in relations between the two neighboring countries.
