Along with the box office success of Khadan, Dev is preparing for his new film Raghu Dakat. Meanwhile, Rukmini Maitra’s film Binodini, produced by Dev Entertainment, has also achieved significant success. This successful duo was present at the World Bengali Business Summit (BGBS 2025).

The 8th World Bengali Business Summit has concluded, with the Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee attending the closing ceremony. Several entrepreneurs from both India and abroad participated in the event. On Thursday, Dev and Rukmini Maitra were both present at the business summit. The Bengali film industry is rich in tradition and skill—whether it’s acting, music, direction, or song. However, when it comes to producing big-budget films, Tollywood is lagging behind in comparison to the South Indian and Bollywood industries. Additionally, frequent conflicts within guilds or federations create issues in the Tollywood industry. To bring major investment into Bengali cinema, Mamata Banerjee invited Dev and Rukmini to the summit to ensure a brighter future for Bengali films.
On the second day of the summit, Dev and Rukmini Maitra appeared on stage alongside ministers. Rukmini gave a speech about her film Binodini at one of the summit meetings. Besides Tollywood, she has also worked in Mumbai. Recently, renowned director Ashutosh Gowariker praised her film. Additionally, well-known Tollywood director Gautam Ghosh gave a speech on the natural beauty of Bengal.
Gautam Ghosh spoke about the natural beauty of West Bengal, stating that the state is rich in natural resources. From the Himalayan mountain ranges to the dense forests of the Sundarbans, these elements have given Bengal a unique beauty. He called on filmmakers to make films here and highlighted the opportunities for co-productions. Gautam also expressed gratitude for Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s efforts to nurture and preserve Bengal’s culture and heritage throughout the year. He also mentioned that there are opportunities for major investments in Bengal’s film industry, a sentiment echoed by Rukmini Maitra.
Diving into the character of Binodini for five years, Rukmini Maitra’s journey has not been easy. To embody the legendary theater character “Nati Binodini” from Bengal, Rukmini had to put in a lot of hard work. However, the results of that hard work are now visible, especially since the release of the film’s teaser and trailer. Binodini is set to release in theaters on January 23. Before that, Rukmini has been invited to participate in a special discussion at the National School of Drama about her remarkable performance as Nati Binodini.
Director Ramkamal Mukherjee has received an invitation from the National School of Drama (NSD). For actors, NSD is a sacred place, and for Rukmini Maitra, it is a special honor. She will be visiting for the first time. The actress says, “For any actor, NSD is like a pilgrimage. Every actor dreams of being a student here. Binodini: A Natir Upakhyan is about India’s first female theater superstar, so having the opportunity to discuss it with the students of NSD is truly a great honor.”So, I am very happy to receive this honor today
