Srabanti Chatterjee has been acting for over 25 years, earning widespread recognition by starring in numerous popular films. However, she has also faced ridicule on social media due to her personal relationships. Recently, she spoke with the West Bengal media outlet Sangbad Pratidin about her new movie and personal life.

Srabanti recently participated in the promotion of the film Sada Ronger Prithibi, directed by Rajarshi Dey, which was released in theaters across West Bengal this Friday.
When asked how she was spending the spring season, Srabanti laughed and said, “This spring is all about work. Shooting, shows, and new film promotions—altogether, I’m in love with work right now.”
Srabanti began her acting journey with the 1997 film Mayer Bandhan. Her dedication to acting has always been profound. She said, “Acting has given me countless life experiences. I’ve been associated with this industry since childhood. At one point, I even worked in television serials. Acting seems to run in my veins; it’s an inseparable part of my life.”
Reflecting on life’s struggles, Srabanti mentioned, “I became a mother at just 16 or 17 years old. At that time, I was very young myself. But my family—my mother, sister, and father—were always there to support me. Without their help, I couldn’t have navigated this journey. Even now, their support is invaluable. I truly consider myself lucky to have such a family.”
In Sada Ronger Prithibi, Srabanti plays a dual role, portraying both positive and negative characters for the first time in the same film. The movie addresses the significant social issue of widow trafficking, offering thought-provoking content for viewers.
Srabanti recently completed shooting for the film Amaar Bos, directed by Nandita Roy and Shiboprosad Mukherjee. She shared the screen with veteran actress Rakhee Gulzar, a notable milestone in her career.
Speaking about her experience, Srabanti said, “It was amazing.” On Rakhee Gulzar, she added, “She is so beautiful that I was mesmerized just looking at her. My father has a huge crush on her. Both my mother and father were really excited.”
Recalling the shoot, Srabanti shared, “Before the shot, she would joke around, but as soon as it started, she became completely serious. She switches on and off effortlessly. She’s truly a legend. I was in awe watching her perform.”
During the conversation, Srabanti also addressed the criticism she often faces, sometimes without reason. When asked how she deals with such negativity, she said,
“Criticism is constant. When you’re famous, defamation comes along too. Initially, it hurt me. I used to wonder why, out of so many incidents in people’s lives, I was always the center of discussion.”
She continued, “Some people simply enjoy criticizing others. But now it doesn’t affect me anymore because I’ve realized life is unpredictable. Today we’re here; tomorrow, we might not be. So living in the present is what’s most important to me.”
Srabanti laughed while recalling rumors that arose during Jeetu Kamal’s separation. She said, “I really don’t understand why people have such problems with me! We worked together during the shoot in London, and his ex-wife was with us too. We all spent time together, shared meals, and had a good time.”
She added, “When the gossip started spreading, I just laughed because I knew the truth. There’s nothing to worry about. People will think whatever they want.”
