Storyline : A young boy and his little sister live in Japan during World War II. Their country is at war, and life is very hard. Bombs fall from the sky and destroy their city. Their mother dies in an air raid. Their father is a soldier and cannot help them. The boy tries to take care of his sister. They find food and shelter wherever they can. They move from place to place, hoping to stay safe. Hunger and sickness grow worse. The boy does his best, but the world around them is cruel. It is a sad and painful story of survival.
