In the first film, Dev was paired with Sweta Bhattacharya, a popular actress from the Bengali television industry. However, there has been no official announcement yet regarding Sweta’s involvement in Prajapati 2. Earlier, there were reports suggesting that young Bangladeshi actress Tasnia Farin would be starring opposite Dev.
Due to some political and social unrest in West Bengal, there were doubts about her participation. However, now that the situation has calmed down, her appearance in the film cannot be ruled out. Therefore, it will take some time to confirm who will be cast opposite Dev.
Prajapati 2 is definitely the sequel to Prajapati. In this new film, Mithun Chakraborty will play the role of Dev’s father, which is sure to be a special surprise for the audience. The film is slated for release on Christmas Day, December 25, 2025, during the winter season and coinciding with Dev’s birthday, just like it happened in 2023.

Directed by Dhruv Bandopadhyay, Dev will play the role of a dacoit in this film. There are rumors in the industry that the makers are preparing to begin shooting soon.
In 2021, the production company SVF announced Raghhu Dakat. At that time, a partial glimpse of Dev in the role of a dacoit was also revealed. However, due to budget and screenplay complications, the shooting could not begin.
Dhruv has mentioned, “There can’t be a bigger mass film than Raghhu Dakat, so we’re taking some extra time for preparation.” According to sources, Dhruv has already completed the screenplay and has discussed the shooting dates with Dev.
