Storyline : In August 1947, the British passed a bill to divide Bengal. This was part of the Partition of India. It created two new nations, India and Pakistan. A new border was drawn between them. Mukherjee’s film Rajkahini tells a story set during this time. The border cuts through a brothel where eleven women live. These women belong to different backgrounds. They face many problems because of the Partition. They try to protect their home from being divided. The film shows their courage and pain. It also shows how the Partition affected common people. The story is powerful and emotional.
