Dhallywood actor Shakib Khan and Kolkata actress Idhika Paul previously acted together in the film Priyotoma. Now, they have been paired up again in a new film titled Borbad. Popular small-screen director Mehdi Hasan, making his feature film debut with this project, will direct the movie.

Although the director has not officially announced it, a close source revealed that Shakib Khan and Idhika Paul signed the contract for this film some time ago. The shooting will begin on September 25 in Mumbai, India. The film is expected to have a big budget, and Shakib and Idhika’s pairing has already generated a lot of excitement among movie lovers. The film will shoot in various picturesque locations and lookout points around Mumbai, adding to its visual appeal.
A close source, speaking on condition of anonymity, mentioned that about a year ago, director Mehdi Hasan Hridoy narrated the story of this film to Shakib Khan. Shakib liked the story, and after approving Hridoy’s plans for making the film, he gave his consent. The shooting will begin on September 25 and continue for 45 days, taking place in both Mumbai and Bangladesh. The director will reveal the names of the other cast members in the coming days.
Director’s comments on Shakib Khan’s Barrad movie
He said, “This story is completely new for Shakib Khan, and it will be an action genre film made on a large canvas.” Reports indicate that the film will screen in cinema halls in Dhaka and will feature artists and crew members from both Bengals. The film will include four songs. The production team has already submitted the visa applications for everyone involved with the film to the Indian Embassy from Bangladesh.
After the fall of the Awami League government on August 5, it has taken some time to obtain Indian visas. However, the team has already completed all preparations for the shooting. Once everyone receives their visas, they will begin shooting as scheduled. If any delays occur, the team may have to push back the shooting schedule for September.
Borbad features some surprising casting choices. The film recently revealed that popular actor Jeetu Sengupta from West Bengal will act in it. Jeetu is also well-known among Bangladeshi audiences.
There were rumors that Jeetu Sengupta would be part of Shakib Khan’s film Tufan, but due to scheduling issues, it didn’t happen. Now, Shakib and Jeetu will star together in Borbad.
Several people involved with the film have confirmed this news to The Daily Star. Borbad is an action and romantic movie, with most of the shooting taking place in Mumbai. Idhika Paul will play Shakib Khan’s heroine in the film. The movie will release during Eid ul-Fitr next year.
The director himself wrote the story and screenplay of Borbad. Misha Sawdagar will play a special role in the film. Additionally, the movie will feature Indian actress Riya Ganguly, Manab Sachdev, and Nusrat Jahan making guest appearances in an item number.
